A happy, motivated and excited Tim Gajser has shown very impressive speed very quickly on the Yamaha in pre-season ahead of this weekend’s MXGP opener in Argentina but the Slovenian has admitted he has had to adapt his style to the Yamaha.
Speaking to Slovenian media, Gajser said: “You try to adapt the bike to yourself, but at some point you have to adapt too, because the bike is completely different. They can’t make the same bike as Honda. You have to make adjustments.
“The team is trying to do everything I want. After a month, we have already brought the bike to a high level. I really feel very good on it. But there are still reserves, we are still testing, we are still trying some things. But I think we will be quite well prepared when it starts in Argentina. I did change my technique a little. The bike has a positive effect on me. I feel very light on it.”
With Jeffrey Herlings switching to Honda and both legend’s not being able to ride their new machines until January, who will be most comfortable in Argentina and adapt to their new team and bike the quickest?
It is just another intriguing storyline in a truly fascinating MXGP season!
