EXCL: Eddie Wade to race the MX1 British Championship in 2026

After a few seasons away from full-time motocross competition, Eddie Wade is set to return to the national championship scene. The British rider has confirmed he will contest the entire ACU British Motocross Championship in 2026, making the move up to the MX1 class aboard a Triumph.

Wade stepped away from racing in the MXGP paddock after the 2022 season. Prior to that, he had spent multiple years competing in the EMX250 championship, gaining valuable experience against Europe’s top young talent. Since 2023, however, he hasn’t raced a full outdoor motocross championship, instead focusing on the Arenacross UK series where he initially represented Stark before lining up on a Triumph this past season.

Despite the time away from regular outdoor competition, Wade did return to the British Championship towards the end of the 2025 season. Riding in the MX2 class, he finished fifth and eighth overall at the final two rounds  – an encouraging result considering the limited race mileage and the adjustment back to motocross.

For 2026, Wade is committing fully to the series and stepping up to the MX1 class. He will be racing a Triumph and, while it won’t be an official ride with Dirt Store Triumph Racing, he will receive support from the team and will be based alongside their setup in the paddock.

The MX1 class is expected to be highly competitive next season, with established names such as Conrad Mewse, Oriol Oliver, Ben Watson and Adam Sterry among those set to line up. The depth of the field should provide Wade with a strong benchmark as he adapts to the bigger bike and continues his progression.

“I’m going to have to put in the work. Especially on the big bike to get used to it. I’m going to have to put in the work. I’m going to have to get stuck in my gym. So I’m going to have to get some sand training in as well because I haven’t done much of that. I’ll do a bit of that and put in some time to get ready”, Wade told GateDrop.com

With a full season planned and renewed motivation, Wade’s return to the British Championship – this time in MX1 – will be an interesting one to watch.
