Troy Lee Designs Red Bull Ducati Factory Racing’s Dylan Ferrandis delivered a strong and consistent performance at Round 2 of the 2026 AMA Supercross Championship at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, while carrying the team solo with teammate Justin Barcia sidelined.
Ferrandis began the day adapting to the tighter San Diego track layout, which presented a different challenge compared to Anaheim 1. In the first qualifying session, Ferrandis focused on learning the track and posted a time of 1:00.962, placing him 12th in the morning session. He made significant gains in Qualifying 2, improving nearly eight seconds with a 52.990 lap to secure ninth in the midday session.
With a combined qualifying position of ninth, Ferrandis lined up in Heat Race 2. He launched well off the gate and completed lap one in fifth position. After briefly losing a spot on lap two, Ferrandis responded decisively, making a strong charge on lap four with two clean passes to move into fourth. He maintained that position to the finish, earning a solid transfer to the main event.
In the main event, Ferrandis did not get the start he was looking for and came through the opening lap in tenth. Showing determination and consistency, he pushed forward to ninth by lap three, where he also clocked his fastest lap of the race. Continued forward momentum moved him into seventh by lap ten, with consistent lap times keeping him in contention. A small crash in the whoops momentarily halted his progress, but Ferrandis remounted quickly and settled back into ninth, where he remained through the checkered flag.
Despite the minor setback, the night marked a positive step forward for the Troy Lee Designs Red Bull Ducati Factory Racing team. With consistency as a primary focus, Ferrandis’ strong pace and comfort on the Ducati showcased the team’s continued progress and potential for improved results with better starting positions.
“The night was not bad honestly. We made some improvements on the bike this weekend. It was hard to replicate the race situation, so I came to the race ready to adapt a little bit, and we did,” Said Ferrandis. “We changed a little bit on the bike between sessions. Overall, I think we made big improvements. The bike was really, really awesome. I was in P6, then got passed for P7, and I tried something different in the whoops and ended up crashing. I lost a couple positions and ended P9. The whole team feels very comfortable with the bike and what we can achieve with it, and I think we’re going to improve again this week and come back stronger for A2.”
The team now turns its attention to Round 3 as they go back Anaheim, aiming to build on the progress made in San Diego and continue pushing forward in the 2026 AMA Supercross Championship.
