Jeremy McGrath wasn’t a fan of Haiden Deegan’s attempts to mess with Jo Shimoda to win the 250 SMX title a few weeks ago.
McGrath who was known for this smooth style and clean passes said in the Jaxxon podcast: “I mean, look, my opinion is this is way over the top, right? And I’ll say this again, Deegan’s an incredible rider, incredible grit, a lot of heart. You don’t see that from a lot of kids that grow up with a lot of opportunity, right? You see it from the kids that don’t have a lot of opportunity.
“He’s got something there, we watch him ride, he’s got an incredible tenacious attitude on the bike, but his kind of riding was pretty poor, in my opinion. He had the opportunity to take the high road, go win the race. He was obviously faster, he was in the lead, he could have probably took off. So in my opinion, he should have just took off and won the race. Let the chips fall as they may, just smoke everyone.
“You know, people are smart, fans are smart. This kind of stuff is not good on the whole for our sport, right? We’re trying to be a professional sport. We’re not wrestling.”
