Brad Todd has never been one to shy away from a challenge, and in 2025 he made the bold decision to head stateside to line up in the AMA Pro Motocross Championship. For a rider who has spent the majority of his career racing in the UK, it was a big move and a significant step into one of the most competitive series in the world.

The British rider managed to contest five rounds this season, gaining valuable experience at Thunder Valley, Spring Creek, Washougal, Unadilla, and Ironman. Each round presented its own unique challenges, from the altitude to not having much time to adapt or learn the tracks.  While the results may not have grabbed headlines, the experience itself was crucial for Todd, who has been testing himself against factory-backed American riders on their home soil.

Looking ahead, we understand that Todd has his sights firmly set on stepping things up another level in 2026. The goal is to contest the entire AMA Pro Motocross series, which runs across eleven rounds. The only stumbling block standing in the way is budget – a familiar story for many privateer riders trying to make a mark at the highest level. Even so, the intention is clear: if full funding can’t be secured, Todd will still aim to line up at as many rounds as possible, getting as close to the full championship as circumstances allow.

Todd has been loyal to Honda for a number of years, but there are suggestions that a switch to a different manufacturer could be on the cards. Nothing has been finalised yet, so whether he sticks with Honda or rolls out on a new brand in 2026 is still uncertain. Either way, competing as a privateer means Todd will have to rely on his own determination, support network, and mechanical set-up to take on some of the best in the business.

Despite his American ambitions, Todd won’t be turning his back on the UK completely. He still intends to race in selected rounds of the British and Scottish Championships next year. These outings will not only allow him to keep sharp against domestic competition but also serve as ideal race preparation before flying out to the U.S. to lock horns with the AMA regulars.

For British motocross fans, the prospect of seeing one of their own taking on a full AMA Pro Motocross season is exciting. Todd’s commitment to making it happen – despite the financial and logistical challenges of privateer racing – speaks volumes about his passion for the sport and his desire to keep pushing himself to new levels.

We’ll continue to keep a close eye on his situation, and once Todd himself confirms his 2026 plans, it will no doubt spark plenty of interest both in the UK and across the Atlantic. Whatever the final details may be, it’s shaping up to be a landmark season for the Brit as he looks to carve out his place on the American stage.
