Andrea Bonacorsi could be set for another big career move in 2026, with strong rumours linking the young Italian to the factory Ducati MXGP team.

At just 22 years old, Bonacorsi is one of the youngest riders in the MXGP World Championship and 2025 marks his first full season in the premier class. Last year he began the season racing the MX2 World Championship with Factory Yamaha, but after an early season call-up to race the 450cc, he stepped up to MXGP for the remainder of the campaign.

Ahead of 2025, Bonacorsi signed with Factory Fantic – a brand he already had history with, having clinched the EMX125 championship title under their colours in 2020. But his time back with the squad may be short-lived, as we understand Ducati are preparing to bring him into their MXGP project for 2026.

With Louis Vosters expected to transition from managing Fantic’s MXGP efforts to leading the Ducati setup next year, it makes sense that Bonacorsi could follow him across, given the strong working relationship the pair have built.

Bonacorsi would join Jeremy Seewer under the Ducati tent, with the Swiss rider already signing a two-year contract that carries him into 2026. Whether Ducati field a third rider remains to be seen, though there is interest in Maxime Renaux. However, Renaux is currently tied to Yamaha until the end of the 2026 season, which could make any potential deal difficult.

Meanwhile, Fantic will be hoping they can retain Glenn Coldenhoff for 2026, otherwise the team could be looking at a new rider line up. As previously reported, Jacky Martens is set to take charge of Fantic’s MXGP programme moving forward.

Plenty of moving pieces are still in play, but one thing certainly on the cards is Andrea Bonacorsi making the move to Ducati.
