Brent van Doninck faced an early setback in his preparations for the 2025 MXGP season after crashing out at the Hawkstone International which ruled him out of the opening round of the MXGP World Championship in Argentina.
The Belgian rider was hoping to build momentum ahead of the opening rounds of the championship but has instead been forced to focus on recovery. A small fracture in his thigh was diagnosed after his crash at Hawkstone International.
Van Doninck had initially attempted to return to the bike last weekend, but the pain proved too much. As a result, the JM Honda rider has had to sit out this weekend’s MXGP of Spain. However, the good news is that he has been making solid progress and remains optimistic about lining up at the upcoming MXGP of Sardinia for the fourth round of MXGP. He will also miss the round round taking place at Saint Jean d’Angely in France.
Despite his misfortune, Van Doninck maintains a positive outlook, making it clear that he doesn’t dwell on the idea of being “unlucky.” He shared an update on his recovery and his mindset heading into the rest of the season:
“Gutted to miss Spain also. Tried to ride last weekend but it’s just too painful… Although I made a lot of progress this week, so I’m confident to line up again in Sardinia! People say I’m very unlucky, but I don’t feel that way. I’m living the life I’ve always dreamed of, so don’t feel sorry for me. I want to thank my girlfriend Anaïs Luts for supporting me in every decision I make and Peka Fit DE, Jens Hendrickx for building me up again. I can’t wait to join the battlefield.”
With his determination and the right support around him, Van Doninck will be aiming to get back to full fitness and return to the MXGP gate as soon as possible.
