Jorge Prado is cautiously optimistic about his Kawasaki debut at Anaheim as his first full supercross season rapidly approaches – but he admits there has been some bumps in the road with his preparation already!
In conversation with David Pingree on the Whiskey Throttle Show, Prado admits he has had a couple of issues that prevented him riding as much as he wanted to get ready for Anaheim:
“Coming into the 2025 season, I expected to have a bit more riding than I did actually. I took my time off after the last GP, we did some testing and I took my time off then as soon as I got back I had a little issue there and had to have a break for a few weeks, then I got back and had another little issue, it wasn’t a smooth beginning.
“Right now we have two weeks and a few days on the bike, and every time I get on it, it is just progress and I feel safe. We did some changes to the bike to make me feel more consistent. We are going the right direction. I have a lot to learn and improve, I am happy where we are at right now, for the little time we got.“
Prado also compared his comfort level on the Kawasaki to his GasGas:
“My Kawasaki I feel way more comfortable overall, not only in the whoops but even in the transitions and the corners. I’m getting my confidence back in the whoops, it’s about riding and getting experience, getting better and be more safe. I am very happy now with my progress, I am taking it step by step I do not want to rush it. I am taking great steps.”
The Spaniard is again demonstrating his intelligence, he knows where he wants to get to, but isn’t getting carried away and knows it will be a learning season, it will be a step by step process. However, expect the technical talent to be better than he was in the early rounds last season and not roll over as easily – he doesn’t have MXGP on his mind anymore and he isn’t here to mess around.
Prado also says he is able to learn a lot from Jason Anderson and Broc Tickle as you can watch below, were he recaps his 2024 MXGP title winning season and not liking the US food!
