Gajser and Lawrence on the Gajser’s winning pass

It was the pass of the year as Tim Gajser won the biggest moto of the year in the penultimate corner with a decisive move on Jett Lawrence that had the entire crowd roaring!

This was the moment of a historic MXoN, maybe comparable to that move Everts made on the pegs around James Stewart 18 years ago. This will be talked about for years by everyone that was there.

Gajser lost a world title in the final round this year but this moment at Matterley Basin will stay with him forever. 1-1 in the deepest field in the world, Gajser delivered a moment he and thousands around the world will never forget and the perfect way to get over the disappointment of losing a GP title. What an epic and deserved day for the five time world champion.

Jett said: “I wasn’t 100% sure where the team was at. I started pretty far back but was able to get to the front. I felt like my last lap wasn’t that bad but then I messed up, I didn’t get the inside rut as clean before the step-up. I looked to my right and seen the green and blue and was like this isn’t a good situation for me, I didn’t think of going across enough and Tim was already set up for it. I thought I could turn back quickly but Tim protected his line through there. It was good to battle with Tim, I got him last year and now he has returned the favour but his for a better position so he one up now!

Tim said: “It was a great day of racing and I’m extremely happy with how it all went. I wanted to end this season on a high and I think I did that. It was great to battle with Jett and we put on a real show for the fans, but obviously I wanted to take the win and I made it happen on the last corner. I felt good all day and in the first race I got into the lead and didn’t have to push too much to win the race. Then in the last moto, I got into the lead but didn’t know Jett was there, so when he was there, I realised I had to go again. Then he made the pass but I stuck with him and took a different line before the uphill triple, got the drive and made the move. A big thank you for all the support I’ve received this weekend and to all the team. Now we have a bit of a break before we prepare for 2025.”
