450cc race results: AMA Pro Motocross RD5 – Southwick

Race One:  Jett Lawrence holeshot and ran away at the front for the win with Hunter Lawrence starting and finishing second as the battle went on behind them. Jorge Prado gated fifth, narrowly avoiding a first turn pile-up and he soon had Eli Tomac on his rear wheel but Prado picked up the pace and passed Webb and then Plessinger with Tomac following him through, then with Prado third and Tomac pushing in the last ten minutes, Prado went down handing third to Tomac with Prado picking it up in fifth behind Plessinger and almost passing the KTM rider on the last lap.

Jett Lawrence said on the podium his dominance was thanks to wearing Jeffrey Herlings Alpinestar gear at Southwick! “It must be the Jeffrey Herlings gear, I always see him wearing this gear and I guess that gave me the sand legs today! I was just trying to find the flow the first two laps, had a really good rhythm and felt good eben though I am sick.”

Race Two:  Jett Lawrence holeshot moto two but, in his best start of the year, he had Jorge Prado right behind him as the two smoothest riders on the planet led the best in the America. Jett started easing away but Prado held strong in second as Hunter Lawrence passed Eli Tomac for third and set hi sights on Prado, re-iginting their MX2 GP days! With ten minutes to go, Prado, trying to avoid a backmarker in his line, went down and that cost him the podium as Hunter took second and Eli Tomac third. Prado woudl finish sixth for fifth overall, but he wasm for the first time all year, a podium contender without the crashes. Two weeks work has worked as has working with Chad Reed at Club MX.

A dominant Lawrence said: “I focus on each race, you can’t focus on the championship. Good day, it ain’t no highway, it keeps the legs moving.”
