FUNCHAL (Portugal), 6 November 2015 – Youthstream Directors David Luongo, Nikos Gounaris and Daniele Rizzi went stateside to visit fellow directors of Charlotte Motor Speedway Doug Cremer (Vice President of Events), Shaun Johnson (Executive Director of Operations) and Matt Greci (Director of Events), together with Motorsport expert Eric Peronnard.

The visit was focused on inspecting the location of the 2016 MXGP event, zMAX Dragway, which is part of the legendary Charlotte Motor Speedway motorsports complex.

This meeting was also the occasion to lay down the basic planning for the arrival of MXGP in this area of the United States. Charlotte, North Carolina, is generally recognized as the home of NASCAR, the world’s most popular series of stock car racing.

Founded in 1960, the Charlotte Motor Speedway complex annually hosts three NASCAR race weekends, two NHRA drag racing weekends at zMAX Dragway and the World of Outlaws World Finals for sprint cars and late models at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.

After two days of excellent collaboration, both Youthstream and Charlotte Motor Speedway are eager to work on the preparation of what looks to be one of MXGP’s greatest events ever.

The MXGP of Americas will take place on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016, with feature racing at night and lots of fun motorcycle activities during the event.

Further details on the inaugural event at Charlotte Motor Speedway will be released at a later date.
