Weekend watch: Vegas and Blaxhall!

Supercross titles will be decided in Vegas while the British championship goes heads to Blaxhall as the national championships across Europe fire back into life with no MXGP racing.

All three supercross titles will go to the wire on Saturday night in Las Vegas but all three championship leaders have a significant points advantage.

Jason Anderson will have had a nervous week, but with a 14 point lead over Marvin Musquin he will need another’s disaster like he had at Salt Lake City to stop him, but when that disaster happens just one week before it is bound to play on even a chilled out Anderson’s mind. His nerves will be test and don’t forget Tomac hasn’t had his chance to get even with Musqin yet, could Eli prevent any chance Marvin has of taking the title even if Anderson has problems?

The 250 class will be a combined East/West event giving West coast leade Aaron Plessinger who has a 13 point lead and East coast champ, Zach Osborne, a 15 point lead a little more to think about. Only Jordon Smith really has a shot at the East title but Adam Cianciarulo, Shane McElrath and Joey Savatgy all have an outdside chance at the West title and with all the top guys in one race, anything could happen as we saw last year!

You can see the track layout below:

Across the Atlantic, Blaxhall will play host to round three of the British motocross championship with local favourite Jake Nicholls hoping to continue his great form and keep the red plate on the Buildbase Honda. Evgeny Bobryshev, Graeme Irwin and Elliot Banks-Browne have shown the speed this year already and Tommy Searle should also up front after another two weeks on the Dixon Kawasaki as he builds himself back up to speed after his broken collarbone at Valkenswaard.

In MX2 wildcard rider Steven Clarke will make an appearance and will no doubt want to give Conrad Mewse a bit of competition. Martin Barr will also be hoping to give Mewse more of a battle as he recovers from the injuries that ruined he first round of his championship. Josh Gilbert backed up his first round podium with another good result in round two and should again be amongst the top contenders in what should be a cracking day’s racing in what are two very competive championships in 2018.

Woth the Dutch Masters of motocross getting its usual GP heavy entry and the French championships it’s still going to be a busy weekend for many GP competitors before they head to Latvia next weekend.
