Wayne Garrett injury update – fundraiser this weekend!
This Saturday night the Wayne Garrett fundraiser event takes place at Temple Golf and Country Club, and starts 7.30pm. The main aim is to raise money for a rider that has done a lot for the sport in this country. Unfortunately, this year Wayne suffered a serious injury whilst competing at a round of the Irish Championship and he is currently still in hospital recovering.
His wife, Sarah has give us an update on his current injury situation.
Sarah Garrett: “Wayne is getting stuck into the Physio in rehabilitation giving it 110% as always. So far he tells me it’s not tough enough for him, it’s too relaxed for what he usually does in the gym. He has got the hang of the bed to chair transfers pretty quickly and the Physio says he will be doing it on his own in the next few days. Within the first few weeks Wayne has got to grips with the chair and is getting shown how to wheelie it already.”
This Saturday a number of top stars in motocross and the tarmac will be there to show their support. The Irish Motocross Des Nations team of Martin Barr, Stuart Edmonds and Graeme Irwin will be attending as well as Neville Bradshaw and Ashley Greedy. Top tarmac competitors such as Glenn Irwin, Andrew Irwin and Davy Morgan will also be in attendance.
An auction will also be held to raise money for Wayne, auction items on sale include Jonathan Rea 2016 Kawasaki leathers, Eugene Laverty Aprilia leathers, Romain Febvre signed shirt, Jake Nicholls signed shirt, signed TYCO BMW shirt, a set of David Knight’s gear, Neville Bradshaw, Ashley Greedy, Brad Anderson jerseys and gear from Graeme Irwin, Martin Barr and Stuart Edmonds plus much more!
