Vlaanderen wins MX2 in Indonesia!
Calvin Vlaanderen was a surprising winner during round twelve of the MX2 World Championship which took place in Indonesia but he was very impressive and deserved his victory.
In the first moto, Vlaanderen was sitting in second before Jonass passed him towards the end of the race. Thomas Covington ran away with victory in the first moto. Prado could only come home in fourth in moto one which meant he lost championship points to Jonass.
However, the second moto was a completely different story. Vlaanderen took the holeshot and pulled away at the front. The South African give Honda their first MX2 GP win since Tim Gajser in 2015 so it’s a big win for HRC Honda and shows they’re working well with the bike.
Jonass was riding well in second but after around eight minutes started to go backwards. He eventfully ended up in seventh just holding off Henry Jacobi – Jonass will not be happy.
Prado was sitting in second until Ben Watson made a move on him towards the end of the moto. Covington ended up second overall for the third GP in a row after getting a bad start in the second moto but he’ll want that overall victory soon!
In terms of the championship, it worked out well for Prado as he’s narrowed the gap down to seven points – gaining two points on his championship rival.
