Video: The Roczen charge – but could he do that in MXGP?

Ken Roczen put on one of the most impressive through the pack charges ever seen at Millville on Saturday.

The German got pinched off by Trey Canard out of the gate and almost went down but one and half laps later he was in the lead with a lap time five seconds quicker than his rivals. It was a stunning display of motocross riding at it’s very best.

Roczen passed Tomac as they both hovered around the top ten but a few corners later Roczen put three guys between him and America’s only hope of a race win. It was a big statement after Tomac beat Ken at Southwick the week before.

It was an incredible performance by Roczen that prompted early race leader Marvin Musquin to admit that Ken was simply, “on another level.”

The big question is how would Roczen do against Gajser, Febvre, Herlings and Cairoli? He would have a lot more competition that’s for sure – those MXGP guys wouldn’t let him have it as easy as he gets it in the USA where most of his competition are more focused on supercross than motocross.

Hopefully Roczen races the last two US GPs and the MXON in Maggiora Italy and we might find out! The five best motocross riders in the world in one race is a mouth-watering prospect, then add a patriotic and hopefully on-form Eli Tomac into the mix in front of his home crowd and representing the USA – it could well be the three biggest races of the year!
