Video: Shane McElrath crash and injury update

Shane McElrath was on for a top three finish until a brutal crash (above) on the last lap of moto two at Southwick as he tried to hold off Alex Martin.

McElrath is in pretty bad shape after suffering, in his own words: “A concussion, grade 3 Ac separation in my shoulder, bruised my lungs, and broke 7 ribs.” We wish Shane the best in his recovery, he had been on his A game in recent weeks and was looking ready to go to the next level.

First time I've been able to eat since yesterday. Thankful for all the thoughts, prayers, and texts. Just one of those things yesterday, but it wasn't from lack of effort. Felt good to be fighting for it! Ended up with A concussion, grade 3 Ac separation in my shoulder, bruised my lungs, and broke 7 ribs. As of now no surgery is needed but will keep everyone posted.
