Video: Chad Reed on winning the first battle with Carmichael and Stewart in 2005!
Chad Reed said that despite losing the 2005 supercross title, two of his biggest ever wins came during that season, firstly, beating Ricky Carmichael at Daytona straight up, then winning the the first dry supercross race with himself, James Stewart and Ricky Carmichael all facing off – in what might just have been the most anticipated supercross race ever!
Chad told us in our interview: “Yeah, those two you talk of were really special because Orlando was really the first race of all three of us, me James and Ricky. The hype was…to this day I have never entered a race with so much… you could feel the tension. Individually I think that moment meant a lot to all of us. So to win that race was really special, because no-one can take that away from you, you won the first battle.”

“Then yeah, of course, Daytona,” continued Chad, “Ricky was always so strong there and I kicked his ass! That was such a good race. If there was any race throughout my whole career where you know hot the marks and you didn’t leave anything out there, it was just, boom, boom boom, lap after lap. Really just turn for turn, going for it. And that’s how you want to race, that’s the feeling you thrive for.”
