VHR KTM to run two MXGP riders in 2020?

The VHR KTM team have been in the GP paddock for quite a number of years now but in the past have focused more on the EMX250 and MX2 World Championships.

At the end of the 2018 season, when Jordi Tixier was left without a ride, the VHR KTM team decided to make the jump up to the MXGP World Championship and supply Tixier with a 450cc.

Tixier who’s picked up a lot of injuries since moving up to the MXGP World Championship had a solid season first full season with the team ending up sixteenth in the championship standings despite missing four rounds of the series.

The former MX2 World Championship didn’t pick up any serious injuries this year which was very important.

Bruno Verheaghe, the owner of the team has revealed the team are in talks with another MXGP rider which mean they’d run two 450cc riders in 2020.

“The big change would be the arrival of a second rider in MXGP, normally alongside Jordi Tixier, but nothing has been signed yet, we need to clarify the situation. Why a second pilot? Because it is the condition required by a new sponsor to join us. Having two riders on the starting line would reassure them and we are working on budget level to be able to welcome the second rider”, Verheaghe told MX2K.

It remains to be seen who the second rider will be but we reached out to Verheaghe ourselves and he did confirm nothing is signed just yet.
