Van Doninck replaces Desalle for Belgium!

Brent Van Doninck has been chosen as Clement Desalle’s replacement in the Belgian team for the MXON in Maggiora next weekend.

But in a surprising twist the MX2 regular will ride the 450 and Jeremy Van Horebeek who has campaigned the 450 all year will remain in the MX2 class. It had been thought Van Horbeeek would move back to the 450 and Van Doninck would ride the MX2 class.

Joel Smets said: “I can’t describe our sadness after @mx_panda had to call off for the MXoN yesterday night but the show must go on and youngster @brentvandoninck172 will replace Clement in the open class aboard a @kemea_yamaha 450 Yep, sometimes you have to dare to think out of the box.

As Smets admitted, he thinking outside the box, but if Brent can find his early season form and adapt to the 450 it might just work. But there is a lot of pressure on Van Horebeek now to get two spectacular results in the MX2 class and beat Alex Martin and Benoit Paturel as he does it.

Belgium might not win, or at lest it’s not as likely, but they should still be a major podium threat at least!
