Van Berkel and Watson sign with SR Honda

The French Sand Racing Championship has been one of the goals of the Honda France SR Motoblouz team for several years now. On the enduropale du Touquet 2020 podium, the team is strengthening for the 2020-2021 campaign.

Usually the team’s MXGP riders would contest the French sand races but as the MXGP season could run onto October and start again in February the team needed to sign up new riders for the French beach series.

The team manager, Josse Sallefranque has signed up Nathan Watson and Lars van Berkel to partner Richard Fura who will stay with the team for another year. Nathan Watson has had a lot of success in the Enduro world as well as the beach races – he won the French sand series last year. Could the SR Honda team be an option for Watson to get back in the Motocross paddock? It remains to be seen but he’s just left a factory KTM ride so stranger things have happened. It’s worth pointing out that Jeremy Van Horebeek initially signed with the team only to contest the French sand races before racing the MXGP World Championship with the team.

The three riders will be coached by Christophe Meyer, who for the past ten years has been working with the best enduro riders in the world while also dedicating himself for three seasons to sand racing. The season kicks off on the 11th of October 11th Berck, seven events being on the calendar including the final at Le Touquet from January 22th to 24th, 2021.
