Major public events, such as the annual Dakar Pre-prologue, can probably no longer be held on the Eurocircuit in Valkenswaard in their current form and size. This is the result of a ruling by the highest administrative judge in an article by Eindhovens Dagblad.

The Dakar Pre-prologue attracts some twenty-five thousand car and motor sports enthusiasts every autumn to the circuit in Valkenswaard. The GP Motorcross also provides a popular race every spring towards the famous site on the Victoria dike. However, the question remains whether such events with these number of visitors can still take place next year.

The highest administrative judge of our country ruled Wednesday that the Pre-prologue, as held in recent years, does not fit within the existing rules for the terrain. The municipality must now review what is and what is not allowed. In any event, events such as the Dakar Pre-prologue do not seem to be able to be adjusted or significantly increased in size. The verdict is a huge support for a number of local residents and interest groups Groen en Heem, who have been conducting a legal battle against the municipality of Valkenswaard for years.
