BREAKING **Arnaud Tonus has just confirmed on Facebook that he will not compete today at Hangtown. The Swiss explained: “I have tried my best but my body isn’t in shape yet, I’m not able to race for now. I just want to thank the team for supporting me all the time. I hope being back soon.”

Gatedrop of course eluded to the disappointing news a couple of days ago in the article below:

Unfortunately Arnaud Tonus might be set to miss the start of the 250 US Motocross Series as he still has not fully recovered from the epstein barr virus, which ended his supercross season. The news broke when it was discussed on the 250 preview Racer X podcast . Steve Matthes, Jason Weigandt and Jason Thomas did not seem to know when he could make a return to racing but they were certain he would not be ready for the start of the championship.

Arnaud Tonus had a decent start to his USA debut in Supercross, qualifying second and finishing eighth in his first race, but it quickly went downhill as he started suffering extreme fatigue and had to pull out of the series to get treatment. Disappointingly he has not recovered as quickly as he would have hoped, and now his dream of winning an US Motocross championship is already over.

It will be interesting to see what Tonus will do next year, whether he will pursue another year in the states or come back to what he knows and race the MXGP World Championship on a 450?
