Unbelievable bad luck for Weckman in Latvia!

Unbelievable bad luck for Weckman in Latvia!

The third round of the EMX125 series was one to stand out for all the wrong reasons for Emil Weckman and the KTM Diga Junior Racing team. Weckman entered the weekend in Kegums second in provisional standings, trailing championship leader by 6 points. As if Murphy’s law –anything that can go wrong, will go wrong- needed illustration the double EMX150 champion suffered bad luck in both motos.

The 16-year old Finn arrived in excellent shape in Latvia. Last weekend Weckman captured the lead in the 125cc Dutch Masters of  Motocross series after winnin a moto in Mill.Emil recorded 10th place in his time practice group allowing him direct qualification for the races. Unfortunately things went pear-shaped just moment before the sighting lap. Weckman’s bike failed to start and he wasn’t able to go to the gate or take part in the race.

On Sunday the talented KTM Diga Junior Racing rider saw his moto cut shart after a rock got stuck in the front sprocket. While Emil didn’t add to his points tally last weekend he’s still holding down fourth in the EMX125 standings. EMX250 rider Damian Kojs failed to qualify in Latvia.

This weekend the KTM Diga Junior Racing squad will head to Teutschenthal, Germany to contest the fourth round of the EMX125 championship. Avrie Berry will line up for the third round of the WMX world championship.

Dirk Saelen team manager KTM Diga Junior Racing: “It’s hard to wrap your head around what happened to us. Hopefully we had all the bad luck for the rest of theyear in one go. This is a serious blow for Emil and the whole team. As a team we have special bond with Latvia so to come all this way and to end the weekend the way we did is particularly sour. Luckily there’s no time to ponder because Germany is up next and we’ll give out our best like always!”.
