UKAX: Second night at Belfast!
There was plenty of drama for the crowd at Belfast hosting another great event which hosted the fifth round of the championship. Fabien Izoird was looking much better than the previous night and won both of his heat races. Matt Bayliss and Cyrille Coulon both looked good before the main event as well as the championship contenders Ramette and Hansen. Soubeyras did crash in one of his heat races though and finished third in his other heat after a bad start, this meant he had a bad gate for the final.
Two heat wins was only the start of a great night for Fabien Izoird as he got to the head-to-head final only to lose too Josh Hansen who also won the previous nights head-to-head event, good championship points for both before heading into the main event.
When the gates dropped for the main event disaster struck for Josh Hansen as he collided with another rider at the start which meant he was stuck in dead last. Cedric Soubeyras just like the first night had a terrible start and was buried down at the back of the pack. Things where looking good for Thomas Ramette and Fabien Izoird out in front though as they battled for the lead. Fabien Izoird made the move and took the race win – it was almost a perfect night for the Frenchie!
Cedric Soubeyras charged through the pack and put the pressure on Ramette – the pair collided which left an unhappy Ramette on the deck and Cedric ended up with a great second position. It was a much better night for Cyrille Coulon as he crossed the line in third ahead of Italian, Angelo Pellegrini who posted his best result of the year so far. Josh Hansen rode well to get back to fifth, he doesn’t seem too be having much luck but the speed is most definitely there. Matt Bayliss was best placed Brit in sixth just ahead of Jack Brunell as he had a much better night on his LPE Kawasaki.
It is all to play for with Birmingham next weekend! Fabien Izoird who has been very consistent so far throughout the series has now got the red plate as he stole it from Soubeyras. However, a lot is still left to play for in this championship especially with Wembley offering double points!
