Tributes flood in for Eric Geboers!

The tributes have been flooding in for Eric Geboers after the devastating news he’s passed away after jumping into a lake in an attempt to save his dog.

The Belgian was the first rider to win a world championship in the 125cc, 250cc and 500cc classes and has five world championship titles to his name.

After he hung up his motocross boots he stayed in the paddock as he clearly loved the sport. Geboers was the team manager of the Factory Suzuki team for a number of years before recently deciding to take a step back.

Ten times world champion, Stefan Everts has described Geboers as his “childhood hero”.

Davey Coombs: “The last conversation I had with Eric Geboers, two years ago, he told me his dream was to have a combined GP/National at Namur, Belgium, half the track covered in #MXGP banners, the other in #AMA #Promotocross banners, and have the twenty best riders from each series and each class match up… then the next year do it at #unadilla … Eric passed away today, and if we all ever get a race like this together, we need to put his name on the trophy. #godspeed #thekid #moto #motocross #thisismoto @mxgp @promotocross @racerxonline #godspeed”
