Tough weekend for WZ Racing in the UK!

Tough weekend for WZ Racing in the UK!

The WZ KTM Racing team went to the UK at the weekend for the fifth round of the EMX250 Championship that took place at Matterley Basin.

Due to injuries the team decided to draft in Estonian rider, Karel Kutsar so he joined up with German talent, Jeremy Sydow for round five and will also contest the French round taking place this weekend for the WZ Racing team.

Kutsar was in the first qualifying group and was battling to qualify without going to the LCQ. The Estonian put in a decent lap on his seventh attempt to end up twelth in his group which put him straight through to the main races.

Young German, Jeremy Sydow put in a pretty good lap time as he was ninth in his group but only 1.2 seconds off Tom Vialle who put in the quickest time for that qualifying group.

It was time for the main races and things weren’t good for Sydow as he had a technical problem with the bike which meant he couldn’t even start the first race. Kutsar couldn’t take a good start and that’s one thing you really need in the EMX250 series, he ended up crossing the line in 31st which meant no championship points.

Thankfully, Sydow managed to start the second moto and took a decent start but couldn’t find the flow he usually rides with, he crossed the line in 26th position.

Kutsar failed to finish the second moto which meant he didn’t pick up any points in Matterley Basin but he’d have got more familiar with the WZ KTM race bike.

Both riders will go into France this weekend motivated to put a tough weekend behind them and run up towards the sharp end of the pack.

Karel Kutsar: “It was not good weekend for me as I couldn’t find a good feeling with the track.

Jeremy Sydow: “Timed practice went okay with a 9th place in my group. The first race I wasn’t able to start because of a technical problem with the bike so that was disappointing. In the second race my start was okay but then I was riding really bad and finished 26th. It was a weekend to forget but we are looking forward to making it better in France.
