Tomac: Everything just felt right

Eli Tomac was still at a little bit of a loss to why he has found some speed at the end of the season that enabled him to win at his home round in Colorado.

“I don’t know,” admitted the defending outdoor champ. “I have kind of been searching these last few races aand not been able to move forward. Today I was able to move forward. I got a better start in moto two which helped out a lot. Everything just felt right. I’ve changed a little bit on the motorcycle I will say that, I was able to come forward this week.

“The track developed well in the second moto. It was pretty smooth in the morning then got rough for moto two. More than I thought it would, I thought it was going to be a massive freeway the whole way.”

On how important is it to get wins at the end of the year, Tomac said it was his motivation heading into the end of the season. “I needed something, that’s what I’ve got in my head right now, try and get a win or two before the end of the season because it’s been a weird year. That was my motivation today.”

Eli also gave an insight into the key of winning 450 titles, eliminating the big mistake: “None of it is easy, in the 450 class you can’t ever make that mistake, that’s what happened to me in supercross as well, I finally had a year where I didn’t make that big mistake, that’s it you’ve got to be the man, you’ve got to be consistent.”

Let’s see if the Kawasaki ace can end his difficult outdoor season on a high this weekend at Pala and bring some momentum back into his supercross title defence.
