Team Honda 114 Motorsports announce fill in rider for Germany!

Freek van der Vlist has been chosen to step up to the MX2 class this weekend for the Team Honda 114 Motorsports team, as a one-round replacement for the injured Bas Vaessen. Previously riding for the Carglass Honda team in the EMX250 championship, Freek jumped at the chance to race in the MX2 class once again and despite the short notice, will hope to perform well at the Teutschenthal track where he has scored points in years past.

Given that Bas is making good progress with his return from the adductor injury that he sustained in Portugal, this deal is only for one round, with Freek returning to the Carglass Honda team for the next round of the EMX250 championship in Great Britain on June 2/3.

Freek van der Vlist
I am really excited to be back behind the gate in the MX2 class this weekend in Teutschenthal for Team Honda 114 Motorsports. I really want to thank them for this big opportunity! I like the track in Teutschenthal and I hope to do well and get some good points. I know I have the speed so I can’t wait for the weekend.

I’m really happy to find someone to race for us in Germany. With Bas and Hunter’s injury, the team already missed one GP, which wasn’t a good feeling believe me. With the EMX250 class riding every weekend at the moment it wasn’t easy to find someone under 23, fast enough for MX2, but finally Freek asked us if we were interested. It’s a good opportunity for him to be back in MX2 and perfect for us as well as he is already from the Honda Family.
I would like to thank the Team Honda Carglass for sharing their rider with us. He will race only one weekend for us in MX2 and we will be back in his team for the rest of the EMX250 season.
Bas is getting better every day also so we expect him on the bike really soon which is a really good news as well.
