Supercross predictions!

Jonathan McCready – It’s hard to look past the big three of Dungey, Tomac and Roczen for the title. Dungey has amazing consistency and Tomac has amazing speed but this year might just be the year Roczen becomes king Kenny. He looks phenomenal on the Honda and after finishing second last year but having the speed over Dungey at the end of the season, Roczen will know he has all the tools to get the job done, he just has to execute and not become over confident. Tomac if he gets his starts sorted might be the guy to take Roczen down while Dungey might have had his best ever year last year and I am not sure he can get much better than 2016 and even then Roczen proved he had more speed by the end of the year and that was before he got on the latest generation Honda.
But you just can’t count Dungey out for the title, he pushes people into mistakes by not make many of his own but the youth is coming and Dungey will have to pull out all the stops this year to beat them.
The top five might well be rounded out by Marvin Musquin and Cooper Webb but then that means you are leaving Jason Anderson, Cole Seely, Trey Canard and Chad Reed out of the leading championship places which seems ridiculous as they all could win races along with guys like Millsaps and maybe even Pourcel or Josh Grant! The field really is stacked with talent this season, let’s just hope they all stay healthy!

Andy McKinstry – In terms of the championship it is hard to look past the big three of Dungey, Tomac and Roczen. Tomac and Roczen on their day are unbeatable but Dungey’s consistency helps him win so many titles. Since heading Stateside Roczen has won everything except this SX title that he so desperately wants, I think he is going to take some stopping in 2017 as he seems very happy to be on the Honda. Tomac didn’t have the best SX series in 2016 but this being his second year with Kawasaki you would expect him to be a lot stronger and challenge for plenty of race wins. Dungey? Well, everyone knows what to expect from him – podiums more often than not.
Outside the main three there are plenty of riders that have potential for podiums and the occasional race win. I have to say I am excited for the prospect of Cooper Webb racing in the 450 class but this will be a learning year for the young talent, a few podium results would be good and I would be very impressed if he could win a round. Frenchie, Marvin Musquin can’t be discounted as he has the speed for good results. Add in the likes of Jason Anderson, Cole Seely, Trey Canard, Dean Wilson and the class is super stacked for 2017. One thing for sure we should get treated to some great, close and entertaining racing.
