Stefan Everts to lose his toe

It looked like Stefan Everts was well on the mend from malaria but last week he had to go back into hospital after a bone infection.
There’s more bad news as he needs to get his toe amputated. The reason for this is so it doesn’t get any worse where he’d perhaps lose his entire right foot.
The operation on his toe was to take place today but has been postponed until next Tuesday due to a late delivery of an antibiotic drug.
“It has become a bit harder mentally,” the Legend from UZ Leuven admitted to VTM Nieuws. “But I will certainly not let my head drop, I was doing well. I had gained five kilos again. The condition was also a bit up to standard, so I’m not going to let this hang. We just continue to fight and work and we look forward positively”.
The Gatedrop team would like to send our thoughts with Everts and his family.
