SR Honda confirm Nathan Watson as MXGP rider for 2021

Good news for British fans as we’ll see another British rider contest MXGP in 2021. The SR Honda team have confirmed that Nathan Watson will race the MXGP World Championship with the team next year.

The SR Honda team have also confirmed that Jeremy Van Horebeek has had his last race with the team – despite a great two years together the team couldn’t keep him for another season as it wasn’t financially possible.

“After two intense seasons, the paths of Jeremy Van Horebeek and the team part ways, as Josse Sallefranque confirms. “We have had two great seasons with Jeremy, sportingly speaking it was great with an eighth place last year and a top ten this season, without forgetting the title in the Elite category and the podium at the Le Touquet, as well as the podium in Argentina last year. We have made a big gap with him by signing a former factory rider, some days we had to work like crazy to meet his expectations. Financially speaking it wasn’t easy for us to start a third season with him. We have two good years with him, full of good memories and in 2021 we will invest even more in the sand with Nathan Watson, Lars Van Berkel and Richard Fura, while continuing our involvement in MXGP with Nathan and a second rider whose identity will be revealed in a few weeks”.

It’s an exiting time for the Watson family as both Nathan and Ben will race the MXGP World Championship next year. The latter will be under the Factory Yamaha awning!

It remains to be seen who the second rider will be to part Nathan Watson under the team’s awning in 2021 but we will bring you the news when it’s official.
