Ryan Hughes unlikely be back in the GP paddock in 2020

Glenn Coldenhoff decided to hire Ryan Hughes as his trainer/coach coming into the 2020 season and the American was present in the MXGP paddock at the opening two rounds at Matterley Basin and Valkenswaard. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the day after Valkenswaard, Hughes got a flight home and it ended up being a good decision with nothing happening in the Motocross world for a few months.

Through a reliable source we’re understood to believe that Hughes won’t be back in the paddock this year year due to travel restrictions and the uncertainty in the world at the moment and Coldenhoff has confirmed it’s unlikely.

“Of course, Ryan does not just work for free and I won’t receive my full salary this year. In addition to this, we won’t know what’s in store for us coronawise, and how this will affect logistics”, Coldenhoff told Brabants Dagblad.

It was nice to see an American face in the MXGP paddock but just the way things are at the moment it’s understandable he won’t be back in 2020 but perhaps he’ll make a return in 2021.
