Rumour: Tonkov’s MXGP career in doubt?

Rumours have hit the message boards that Aleksander Tonkov’s MXGP career may be in doubt!

Tonkov was unable to travel to Italy to compete for Russia at the MXDN and the reason given had been visa problems, but now it seems like the talented Russian is not allowed to leave Russia for a few years after falling foul of their travel rules.

This is terrible news as he was due to move up to the MXGP class with the Wilvo Yamaha team. Arnold Tonus has been heavily linked to a Yamaha team, so he might be going to Wilvo Yamaha to replace the unfortunate Tonkov.

We hope this rumour is misplaced and Aleksandr can make his MXGP debut next year, but we will keep you updated as this story unfolds.
