Rumour: Suzuki to follow Kawasaki out of MX2?

Rumours from around the Assen paddock suggest that the Factory Suzuki team might not have a presence in the MX2 series in 2018. We have recently reported that the Kawasaki outfit in the MX2 class will be folding at the end of the season which you can read here. Even though it’s not yet official, it still seems to be the case with the Kawasaki outfit as Adam Sterry signed a release clause and is on the look out for a ride, you can read about that here.

However, Suzuki are the latest manufacturer that look to be pulling out of the MX2 World Championship as well. If this is the case it’s not good for the sport or the MX2 series as it’s even less factory bikes.

Of course, what will all this mean for Hunter Lawrence? He has a deal with Suzuki for next year but if the manufacturer does pull out then it will leave the very talented Aussie without a ride. Honda have been linked with a move to Lawrence.

Hunter’s younger brother, Jett was also set to contest the EMX250 class next year with the team but that’s now in doubt.

Also, Zach Pichon and Bas Vaessen will face an uncertain future if it is indeed the case.

We will continue to keep you updated as and when we hear more.
