Rumour: Maxime Renaux – full factory in 2021?

Rumour: Maxime Renaux – full factory in 2021?

Maxime Renaux is having a brilliant season in the MX2 World Championship as after eight rounds of the series he sits third in the championship standings and even has the first GP victory to his name.

The French talent is currently with Italian team, SM-Action Yamaha but rumours suggest he’ll be on a full factory Yamaha for the 2021 season. With Ben Watson ageing out of the MX2 World Championship the factory team will need a replacement for the Brit and Renaux looks to be the best option available.

This season Renaux currently does have a factory engine but it’s believed the Factory Yamaha team (formerly known as Kemea Yamaha) are running Star Yamaha engines this year so it’ll still be an upgrade for the French rider and he’ll have the opportunity to work with Marnicq Bervoets once again.

Renaux already knows the team well as he’s been with them in the past when battling for the EMX125 title before an injury meant he lost out on that championship – Jorge Prado went on to win the title that year.

There’s no doubt that Renaux is having a fantastic season and after a number of big injuries in the past, it’s nice to see him fulfil his potential. If he can handle the pressure with a full factory bike, he might just challenge for the title in 2021!

More news as and when we get it.
