Rumour: KTM, GasGas and Husqvarna – Future MXGP restructure?

We’ve heard a rumour that could have a big impact on the MXGP paddock. Apparently the Austrian Group which runs KTM, GasGas and Husqvarna is considering re-organizing their program in MXGP.

During the past years there have been two brands added to the group, Husqvarna and GasGas and they went from two to six factory teams which obviously had a big impact on the budget spent on racing. It is also no secret that the past years they invested heavily in MotoGP which undoubtedly requires huge financial budgets.

The rumour we’ve heard is that the group will reduce their Factory teams in MXGP to one for each brand which means three teams will disappear or lose their Factory status. Probably the situation of the current ongoing contracts will play a role but in such decisions often also other reasons are involved.

From what we have heard KTM would do themselves the KTM Factory team, Husqvarna will be run by Nestaan and GasGas will be run by De Carli. This would mean IceOne, Standing Construct and Diga-Procross would no longer run the Factory setup for Husqvarna and Gas Gas – let’s hope there will not get any seats lost in the paddock.
