Rumour: Jacobi secures MXGP ride for 2020

One of the riders who will age out of the MX2 World Championship in 2020 is German rider, Henry Jacobi.

Jacobi is having a good season on the F&H Kawasaki as he currently sits fifth in the MX2 World Championship after stepping up his level in 2019.

It can be hard to find a ride in MXGP when stepping up from the MX2 World Championship but rumours around the paddock suggest Jacobi could be heading to the SM Action – McMigliori Racing team.

The SM Action team have focused on the MX2 World Championship in the past but signed an MXGP option with Michele Cervellin for the 2020 season as he’s another rider that needs to make the step to MXGP next year.

It now looks like the team will run two riders in MXGP next year – Jacobi and Cervellin as the team will shift focus to MXGP.

It’s likely that the team will run three riders as they’ll look to retain the services of Maxime Renaux to contest the MX2 World Championship once again for the team in 2020 as he’s had a good rookie season.
