Infront Moto Racing have a tough time putting together an MXGP calendar this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Today we’ve heard rumours that certain tracks could hold two GP’s – making easier to arrange a number of GP’s in a short space of time.

Due to the ban on major events, the GP of Lommel cannot take place on the 2nd of August this year. At first the organization didn’t seem to think it was a good idea to move to the autumn, but now it seems that a different wind is blowing in Lommel.

Johan Boonen told Het Belang van Limburg: “We have also heard about the plans for double GPs”. There have been no concrete discussions yet, but we are – just like the city of Lommel and the Belgian Motorcyclists’ Union – open to it. We would like to help save the World Championship. Although there are of course conditions. It must be financially feasible and, most importantly, it must be possible to do it responsibly. The safety and health of people is paramount.”

The idea is to organise two GP’s at the same location, but each time with a different layout. Alongside Lommel, it’s thought that Finland, Sweden and Latvia would also consider this idea.

We will continue to keep you updated as and when we hear more.
