RHR Yamaha on midweek Patchquick Trophy crusade!

RHR Yamaha on midweek Patchquick Trophy crusade!

The Rob Hooper Racing Yamaha Motocross team head to Devon and the Little Silver circuit for the 71st staging of the coveted Patchquick trophy tomorrow (Wednesday 13th June).

The meeting is an important part of the RHR Yamaha calendar, and with team boss Rob Hooper having won the trophy in 1978, and Jake Shipton winning it with RHR last year, it is an event that evokes great memories for the team.  The trophy has a value of £20,000 and with such an array of big names in the sport having won it in the past, this year a whole host of new breed UK motocross stars will be looking to get their hands on the famous silverware.

All focus for the team will be on Ryan Houghton who is the only RHR representative after Kristian Whatley has been stepped down from racing activity for the remainder of the month, but team boss Hooper has high hopes for Houghton saying “This is a special meeting for me and team and we always put everything in to win it.  A fantastic line up has been assembled, but Ryan has been having a great season so we are sure he will be up there and in contention for the win.  The organisers have done a great job at promoting the event so we look forward to seeing a great crowd there to watch it.”

Following on from their trip to Devon the team head northwards, and Preston Docks for the 3rd round of the Bridgestone British Masters, where after two rounds Houghton sits second in the Pro MX1 standings.  The Team’s MX2 rider Robbie Dowson will also be joining them as he looks to build up the strength in his injured shoulder in the build up to the next round of the Maxxis British Motocross Championships at Desert Martin the following weekend.
