Clement Desalle broke the KTM streak to win the first moto in Russia!

The Belgian did it the hard way by passing both Herilngs and Cairoli at the start then sprinting into six second lead but by the end was hanging on slightly to the lead as both Cairoli and Herlings put the pressure on at the end with late race charges.

“I had a good rhythm and keep first to the end of the moto, it’s really great,” commented an impressive Desalle.

Cairoli fought Herlings hard at the start of the moto and managed to keep him at bay again at the end to get two valuable points in the championship, both KTM men coming close to collisions at some point as the rivalry heats up!

Jeffrey Herlings took the second moto holeshot and controlled the race from a fast Desalle who kept Jeffrey in sight for most of the race to ensure his first overall victory of the season and the first non KTM GP win of the year!

“It feels really good,” said Desalle. “It’s been really tough this season with the two orange guys but to get the GP win I was really happy, the second moto I was clever and had good speed.”

Cairoli crashed while pressuring Gajser for third in moto two allowing Febvre into fourth and the Frenchman would end up getting Gajser at the end but it was still Cairoli who made the podium with a 2-5 for third overall.
