Pauls Jonass returned to form in Russia passing holeshot man Jorge Prado and controlling the opening race despite pressure from Prado for the first half of the moto.

“I felt really good all moto, I made a pass already at the end of the first lap, I just rode my own race,” said  Jonass.

Ben Watson rounded out the top three in a very good ride.

Pauls Jonass led from start to finish in race two but Prado didn’t make it easy as he gradually closed in and even made a last ditch attempt at a pass with two turns to go by diving up the inside on an unsuspecting Jonass. “I relaxed a little bit and made too many mistakes and Jorge came close,” said Jonass but his kept his cool and took the win with Jonass second and Cervellin a very impressive third.

But it was Ben Watson who finally took his first ever podium with 6-3 and Yamaha’s first podium of the year!
