Report: Paulin wins but Lapucci stars in Italy

Nicholas Lapucci had the ride of his career in Faenza, Italy after pushing Gautier Paulin all the way in both motos of the Elite class at the typically Italian hard pack and hilly venue.
Lapucci led for most of race one until Paulin, who appeared to be taking a while to get into his groove in the first five mintutes, turned up the wick and moved past Seewer and Cervillin before putting the move on a determined Lapucci.
But after pulling out a small lead Paulin couldn’t even rest on the last lap after Lapucci, under pressure from Cervellin, kept pushing and forced the Frenchman to increase his pace again to ensure the first moto victory.
Race two was even closer with Lapucci again fast out of the gate and looking like this time he would get the win after holding off both Paulin and Seewer but Paulin had other ideas!
On the last lap the wily Frenchman made the crucial move to take the win and the overall victory despite the best efforts of the Lapucci to get him back but both will be more than pleased with their performances on the day.
Sweewer took third overall with Maxime Renaux a brilliant fourth in race two to claim top spot in MX2.
