Race results: MX2 World Championship RD15 – Geerts takes a big win in Sweden

When the gate dropped for the first moto, it was Kevin Horgmo who grabbed the holeshot on his F&H Kawasaki but it didn’t take Tom Vialle and Jago Geerts to work themselves into first and second. With only a two seconds gap between the pair it was looking like it could have been another great battle but after ten minutes Jago Geerts took a small crash demoting him to third.

The Belgian was able to re-pass Horgmo to finish a comfortable second. On the final lap there wasn’t much between Horgmo, Laengenfelder, Haarup and Benistant in a good battle for third.

The second moto was what we all wanted to see as both championship rivals, Jago Geerts and Tom Vialle went at it! Vialle got the better start out of the pair but while he was working his way to the front had a small crash which give Geerts the upper hand.

Geerts then closed on Laengenfelder but couldn’t make a move which saw Vialle close the gap. Both got around Laengenfelder and then it was on, both were hauling around a tricky track – it was great to watch! In the end Geerts held on for a huge victory in the terms of the championship as he keeps a 23 points gap in the series with only three rounds to go!

Laengenfelder had a strong day to round off the podium as the German continues to improve.
