Race results: Febvre and Herlings undefeated in Thailand

Romain Febvre won the Thai GP after an epic first moto battle with Tony Cairoli and Tim Gajser.

The three world champions put on a brilliant race all fighting hard for the win but it was Febvre who ultimately prevailed in the heat. In race two Febvre got out front early and took off in what was a much easier race win. The Frenchman also took the red plate and now leads the championship.

Cairoli stalled in the first turn having holshot race two and could only get back to 12th and fifth overall. That left Tim Gajser to take second overall with a solid and smart 3-5 score and Jeremy Van Horebeek third overall with a consistent 5-4 result.

Ben Townley was hanging with Febvre, Cairoli, Gajser trio in race one until a crash in the waves left him with a DNF after the radiator got smashed in the impact. Townley put things right however in race two with a second place to leave him ninth overall.

In MX2 it was domination by Herlings again although it did take him ten minutes to get into the lead in race two after he nearly wiped himself out over a jump trying to pass Bernadini for second! But Herlings rode strong in the heat and really showed his fitness and speed is on point this season.

Jeremy Seewer is the rider to watch this year and took his best result of his career with second over after coming through the pack in both motos to finish third both times out – a dramatic improvement considering the Swiss collapsed yards from the finish last year with heat exhaustion!

Alex Tonkov rounded out the top three with two good rides despite a mistake in race two. Max Anstie had another DNF in race one but was flying in race two, showing his real from to come from way back in the pack and nab second on the last lap from Seewer.
