Race Results: Dutch Masters RD1 – Markelo!

During the first moto’s of the first round of the Dutch Masters, Jeffrey Herlings put on a great show in front of his home crowd to nearly win by thirty-seconds. The two Ice-One riders of Gautier Paulin and Max Anstie both edged out Romain Febvre for second and third respectively.

In the MX2 class Thomas Kjer Olsen just edged out Calvin Vlaanderen as there was just over a second in it at the line. Jago Geerts on his Kemea Yamaha ended up third as he keeps improving. Irish wildcard, Martin Barr just missed out on a top ten as Thomas Covington passed him right at the end of the moto.

Raivo Dankers won the first 125cc moto and Kay Karssemakers won the 85cc moto.

In the second moto’s it was more of the same as Jeffrey Herlings and Thomas Kjer Olsen won and grabbed fifty championship points. The MX1 race was a tighter affair as Herlings only had a six seconds advantage this time over Gautier Paulin who again came home in second. Max Anstie pipped Romain Febvre to third overall on his Ice One Husqvarna.

In the MX2 race, Jed Beaton held the early race lead but couldn’t do anything about Olsen going by, the Aussie did do enough to bring it home in second ahead of Davy Pootjes which meant both of them ended up on the podium. Jago Geerts went down in the first corner along with Calvin Vlaanderen, the later couldn’t continue but the Belgian came back to sixth. Martin Barr put in an even better ride for ninth and seventh overall.

Rene Hofer won second 125cc moto and grabbed the overall with that, a DNF for Dankers ruled him out of the running. In the 85cc class it was Kay Karssemakers who grabbed victory yet again.
