Organisers of the Limburg GP say goodbye to Clément Desalle

The organiser of the GP of Limburg honored Clément Desalle (Monster Energy Kawasaki) this weekend. The retiring Kawasaki rider finished his last Belgian Grand Prix today, and in the final moto the “MX Panda” signed out with a sixth.

To honor Clément for his brilliant GP career and to thank GP Limburg for his efforts, GP Limburg came up with some surprises. Press officer Jurgen Vranckx explains: “Johan Boonen and Jo De Munck presented Clément with a special trophy. In addition, we also made a video with messages from his former mechanic Marc Verpaelen, ex-team manager Sylvain Geboers, his current team manager François Lemariey, doctor Toon Claes and his British super fan Paul. ”

Clément Desalle made his GP debut in 2006 as a 16-year-old during the GP of Flanders in Zolder. Jo De Munck was already the driving force behind the Grand Prix there at the time. Johan Boonen also selected Desalle as a member of the Belgian MX of Nations team for what was his debut as a team manager in Red Bud, 2018.

Although Clément was on the podium 3 times in Lommel, he never won the GP there. However, in 2013 he won the Belgian Grand Prix in Bastogne in front of his home support.
