Olivier Bossard responds to Anthony Rodriguez BOS GP comments

Anthony Rodriguez recently opened up on his short time with the BOS GP team, which you can read here. There’s two sides to every story and the team owner from the BOS GP team has responded to Rodriguez. Bossard isn’t best pleased with the Venezuelan – instead he’s putting the blame on the rider.

Whilst Bossard doesn’t actually name Rodriguez as the rider he’s talking about, the biggest hint he’s talking about him is due to the back injury. Rodriguez tried to ride the MXGP of Lommel but had to pull out and Bossard is sensationally saying Rodriguez lied about the back injury!

The BOS team owner posted the following statement on his social media page:

  • You call yourself a professional rider, but are you really?
  • When your training bike shows 2.4 hours after 3 weeks of preparation for your return to the GP’s….
  • When you spend your time in the car that your team gave you to go to your training places, to visit the south west and Spain for two weeks.
  • When you behave badly with the people who have welcomed and hosted you.
  • When your weight is 5 to 7 kg more than it should.
  • When you can’t do a good lap because your handlebars are 2.6 mm too far back.
  • When your boots don’t allow you to ride because the sole is two mm higher than you wish.
  • That on your first day your boss has doubts about your ability to ride wisely.
  • That you question a motorcycle that made several top 10 results before you
  • When you make changes and after three weeks of riding, you find out that the bike provided on the first day is the one that suits you the best.
  • When you explain to your team that you know you’re going to be in the top 5 and you’re 13 seconds off 5th place.
  • When you lie to your team explaining that you have pain in your back at the moment you realise that you are painfully 25th in the races.
  • When you can’t pass the 15 minutes mark in a moto during training.
  • When you’re almost 7 seconds slower on a reference circuit of your team by a retired driver.
  • When you’re scared when the power of your bike comes.
  • When your teammate is surprised at your behaviour while he was the top three of this category.

I could have continued with this list without any problem. If I have accepted a good part of the comments from previous riders out of respect for their work and involvement, this time, from you I just can’t. From my career in the middle of real champions, I’ve never seen such a liar and miserable rider.

It’s a scathing attack from the BOS GP team manager, Olivier Bossard, with lots of accusations about Rodriguez, we will probably never find out if they’re all true but it’s sad to see this sort of thing happen.

At least Rodriguez had the decency to wish the team all the best for the future!

At the same time, it’s not easy to run an MXGP team at the highest level and we need to be thankful for all teams in the paddock but it’s just a shame to see so much of a dispute.
