Official! Herlings OUT of Loket

KTM have confirmed that Jeffrey Herlings will not be racing this weekend in Loket, Czech Republic.
The Factory took to Twitter to say: “Confirmation: Jeffrey Herlings won’t start the MXGP in Loket. #getwellsoon”
The Dutchman broke his collarbone just under two weeks ago but got a plate in the offending bone in hope of a quick recovery. However Herlings did set the rumour mill alight with a post on social media stating, “I just can not believe whats going on right now…” That led to rumours that Herlings had re-broken the collarbone this week while testing for Loket, something that Herlings said was, “not true.”
Either way it is a sensible decision for the championship leader who has a 169 point lead in the MX2 championship. But it will be interesting to see how long Herlings will be out for as it is believed his original plan, if he couldn’t race Loket, was to definitely be back for Lommel the weekend after. Now Herlings is saying he won’t be back until he is 100%. Let’s hope his injury/recovery hasn’t suffered a serious setback and he can return as soon as he is strong enough to do so to clinch his third MX2 world title.
But it leaves the door wide open for a new winner in MX2 this weekend, with Ferrandis, Seewer and Jonass in particular no doubt rubbing their hands together in excited anticipation of a potential GP win!
