No professional sports will be taking place in England until at least the 1st of June and that includes behind closed doors.  A 60-page guidance document has been published by the Government about how they intend on dealing with the lockdown restrictions.

Step two of the plan outlines the following which could be considered from the 1st of June.  “Permitting cultural and sporting events to take place behind closed-doors for broadcast, while avoiding the risk of large-scale social contact”. Perhaps, the ACU will need to consider holding British Championship races without fans or certainly limiting fans if they want to hold races this year.

With regards to opening venues that can attract large crowds such as sports stadia – “this may only be fully possible significantly later depending on the reduction in numbers of infections”.

The ACU are expected to be releasing a statement later in the week so stay tuned.
