Heading into the season we wanted to find out who people involved in the sport, whether that be riders or team managers etc thought would win Qatar and the title!

We got to asking people around the paddocks to get some thoughts! Bare in mind some people were asked before Desalle picked up his injury – but it still shows how highly rated he is!

Jeffrey Dewulf – “Last year I’m pretty sure without getting hurt, Desalle would have been the world champion. On the other hand Paulin was riding, almost the whole season, with a knee injury. Not many people knew this or still dont know this.. They both rode a good winter in the US and Paulin trained with Aldon Baker so pretty sure those 2 are more hungry then ever to fight for the title. Cairoli will always be there I think, not dominating but consistent just like Febvre. Hopefully they all stay fit and not like last year”

Qatar:
1. Desalle
2. Paulin
3. Febvre

Championship:
1. Desalle
2. Paulin
3. Cairoli

Riccardo Boschi – “I would put Cairoli first and Febvre second, if  is a true champion should be confirmed, because he won the Worldchamp.. when we were the best but I think it is very fast, For the third place I see 2 or 3 riders  , Desalle and Nagle , Is very strong and tough Simpson attention.

Qatar:
1. Nagl
2. Cairoli
3. Febvre

Championship:
1. Cairoli
2. Desalle
3. Paulin

Giacomo Gariboldi – “Honestly a prediction this year for the MXGP class is quite a nightmare! I could give you at least 10 riders for the top 3 who have exactly the same possibility to score the podium and it’s quite impossible to predict.”

Daniel Magdaleno – “Motocross can be a cruel sport. One day you’re on top of the world and the next you’re out. A stone in a rut, hit a puddle or a wet crest of a jump and you’re down in considerable pain and with a blown collarbone. Just ask Jeff Herlings, Dylan Ferrandis, Tony Caroli, Max Nagl or Clement Desalle just to name a few, not to speak of poor old lad Mel Pocock or Ryan Villopoto. In just a twist of fate your season is over. It’s pretty hard to make a prediction, but just as my friend Andy asked me to make a prediction… well, here it goes”

Qatar:
1. Febvre
2. Nagl
3.Desalle

Championship:
1. Febvre
2. Nagl
3. Cairoli

Stephen Rubini – “The MXGP will be up this year there is a big level, which was in Alghero I could see some pilot MXGP and I saw that Febvre na ps lost that Boby want to progress and can earn Channel, always van Horebeek. Now, this rising scale slovienne GISER tim! Difficult to say now who will be at the front post, because it lacks a lot of people still like a Cairoli a Tixier a Simpson, Strijbos or a Townley! for my prognosis I am still pretty fuzzy, but I can see that a Febvre and safer than ever, I hope to see a Cairoli and why not Bobby 777 is still too early to say quite a prognosis because we will not Hye All this is even a driver on departure”

Qatar:
1. Nagl
2. Febvre
3. Desalle

Championship:
1. Febvre
2. Bobryshev
3. Cairoli

Nick Adams – “I think Febvre will win Qatar cause he will be motivated, for sure he will train hard and he’s good in those conditions. Desalle for second cause he looks good and he’s fast on hard hard fast tracks. Third for Cairoli because he’ll always be where he needs for the title Cairoli to win the title because he has the speed and knowledge to outsmart everyone. Febvre to finish second because he will always be the title contender and he’s consistent. Paulin to finish third because he’s fast and normally finishes all races.”

Qatar:
1. Febvre
2. Desalle
3. Cairoli

Championship:
1. Cairoli
2. Febvre
3. Paulin

Ryan Houghton – “Febvre for the championship – to be honest I think he’s going to be even better than last year. His confidence grew throughout the year and if he can start this year where he left off he will be hard to beat! Desalle  for runner up as I think he will suit the Kawasaki and will win a few motos. Nagl for third, like last year I can see him starting the season fast but I think he will lose out on the championship through consistency in mid part of the championship”

Qatar:
1. Nagl
2. Desalle
3. Febvre

Championship:
1. Febvre
2. Desalle
3. Nagl

Stuart Edmonds: I think top 3 for Qatar will be Febvre, Cairoli, Simpson. The overall championship will be tough to decide, a lot of riders are injured at the minute so its anyone’s but strongest guess for me at the minute would be Febvre, Cairoli and I think Simpson will be on a high roller this year he has gained a lot of momentum and only seems to be gaining more each time he is out so I’d like to see him in top 3.

Qatar:
1. Febvre
2. Cairoli
3. Simpson

Championship:
1. Febvre
2. Cairoli
3. Simpson

James Dunn:  So, I’m thinking for mxgp it’s going to be 1st – Paulin (he’s heen training with Aldon baker in America so I’m thinking he going to be ready coming into the first round!). Second for Febvre and third for Searle.

Qatar:
1. Paulin
2. Febvre
3. Searle

Championship:
1. Febvre
2. Paulin
3. Desalle

Brad Anderson:  Febvre is a strong rider and his head will be high after wining last year and he will be wanting to win the first round to show every one that he is number one. Nagl was very fast there last year wining both motos so it will be interesting to see if he’s back fully fit and up to speed. With Cairoli you can never count out as he is mr consistent, don’t think he will win but he will be there or there abouts, he looks at the bigger picture to win the championship.

Qatar:
1. Febvre
2. Nagl
3. Cairoli

Championship:
1. Cairoli
2. Febvre
3. Nagl

Brian Jorgensen: Tony Cairoli to win the championship as he is hungry for winning and proving to him self and the world that he is still the fastest man in mxgp. Romain Febvre to finish second as he is also hungry to win again, but i think it is not easy to win again and he will have to deal with a lot of weight on his shoulders. If the eight times World Champion don’t get injured, I think Antonio knows how to play that game and he has more experience but it’s going to be a close race. Bobryshev to finish third as he has improved the last years and it is time to prove he is one of the best. But to beat tony and Febvre it will take more than Speed, but key word is consistency!!

Qatar:
1. Nagl
2. Cairoli
3. Bobryshev

Championship:
1. Cairoli
2. Febvre
3. Bobryshev

Thomas Sileika:  febvre is coming in hot from last years title, and win in the first round of the Italian championship. Desalle is always strong in the beginning of the seasson but he’s cursed with that 2nd place. tony like always taking it steady the first rounds but will do good.

Qatar:
1. Febvre
2. Desalle
3. Cairoli

Championship:
1. Cairoli
2. Febrve
3. Paulin

Jussi Vehvilainen: Febvre to win Qatar as he is on flow now, had great end of 2015 season and can’t see why he wouldn’t continue his roll. Max Nagl for second as he was great there in 2015 and ICE1 put so much effort in for winter testing, etc. So he ‘ll be ready to go. Paulin for third as he has a solid winter training period behind, he is healthy and must be in terms now with Honda.

Febvre to win the championship for the same reason what I wrote above about him, plus he is solid on every track, knows how to stay save and be at every round. Paulin for runner up as he is fast on every track when healthy and it’s time to put on similar rides as in MXON 2014 Latvia. Simpson to finish third – this is my big quess, I just like what he does and how, he knows how to be there every weekend for full season and winning the sand GP’s hopefully is enough for 3rd overall ranking!

Qatar:
1. Febvre
2. Nagl
3. Paulin

Championship:
1. Febvre
2. Paulin
3. Simpson

Josiah Natzke:  I think the top three for qatar will be nagl, febrvre and desalle, not too sure what order but i think they will be top three somewhere. The top 3 for championship i will say febvre cairolli paulin.

Qatar:
1. Nagl
2. Febvre
3. Desalle

Championship:
1. Febvre
2. Cairoli
3. Paulin
